Making Miracles with LeapFrog

This post was sponsored by LeapFrog. I was provided with these toys in response for my honest response.
All opinions are 100% my own.

Hey there, friends!

Have you ever found THAT toy? You know, the one that brings your kids together in a way that no other does, and creates the magic that is kids playing without screaming at each other? It is a rare gift! These might just be those toys...

The Latest from Leapfrog!

I have been compensated for this post by way of free materials.
All opinions are 100% mine.

Hi friends!

It is no secret that we are huge Leapfrog fans around here. Like seriously...huge! So you better believe there was all sorts of happy dancing when this bad boy arrived at our house!

Yes, that's right...it's the new LeapPad PLATINUM! We have loved the entire LeapPad series, and this one steps up the game big time! The screen is bigger, the graphics are wonderful, and Abbey is out of her mind thrilled with it. I love that we can shop for new games right from the tablet, and Abbey loves searching for things on the kid-safe LeapSearch web app. Hooray for safe internet access! That makes this mama breathe a little easier.
The thing I think is super cool are these new Imagicard games...

You get this deck of cards that goes along with a game. Then, using the camera on the LeapPad the game has you scan the card.

That's when the magic happens!

Characters jump right off the card onto your screen. The game self-checks and corrects your kiddo if they need to choose a new card. It is so much fun! And the best part? You don't need a LeapPad platinum to play, any LeapPad with a camera will work! I love that LeapFrog is so careful to make sure that their games and toys are useful for a long time. Great for a family on a budget!

The other things I love is that even when Abbey has technically "out grown" a game, she still has fun playing them. She knows her numbers and shapes, this game is "too young" for her, but she still played it for 30 minutes today. It's still engaging, even once it is past it's target demographic. Again, thank you LeapFrog for games that aren't one and done!

Happy playing!

My Favorite Ethical Clothing Companies

Hello friends!

We live in a sad, scary world. There is no getting around that. Slavery is at an all time high. Like, in all of history, all time high! I see the numbers and it just all feels so overwhelming. Where do you even start? How can you even make a dent? I know that as a Christian I am called to serve the poor, the orphans and the widows. I want to do that! But where to start?

I am a firm believer in baby steps. Yes, sometimes people can dive in and make sweeping, life changing steps, but if we all just start moving in a better direction, change will come. There are a lot of different places we can start. Today, I'm focusing on what we wear.

Stacked Spring Wreath

Hey there, friends!

I hope you all had a blessed Easter! We had an absolutely beautiful day! We had some amazing worship, delicious lunch at our favorite cajun restaurant (because doesn't cajun just scream Easter, hahaha!) and spent the afternoon playing in the yard!

I wanted to pop in today and let you know that I have a fun project up over at Wayfair. Remember my Stacked Autumn Wreath? Well, after being put away for Christmas she got a new makeover and is now my Stacked Spring Wreath! She's bright, and pretty, and I love the way she dresses up my door!

Hop on over to Wayfair and check it out! Maybe leave her some love?

Love your story today!

Upcycled Button Toothbrush Cup

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #NaturalGoodness #CollectiveBias

Hello friends!

April is Earth month, and it has me thinking. We have spent a lot of time trying to get as many chemicals out of our home as possible. I make our laundry detergent (link) and cleaning sprays. We use cloth diapers (most of the time), and I try to keep the kids' soaps and products as natural as possible. We're not perfect, but we try.

I've also been working on getting our home more organized. It seems like the first step to any organizing project is going out and buying some new storage item. Now, don't get me wrong, I love good storage, but I don't think that running out and buying something new needs to be the first step every time!

This was a great little project for Abbey. She got to make a project, and now she has more ownership over keeping her bathroom counter clean, because it's her work she is using!

Tools for Stopping the Tattling

Hi friends!

What is it about Kindergarten? Abbey has hit full-blown tattle tale status, and it is making me absolutely CRAZY!

I am a firm believer in the use of all sorts of tools when addressing a behavior concern. I can explain why it is a bad thing until my face turns blue, or I can read a few stories and show her a video. If that's what works, I say go for it!

So, without further adieu...my favorite tools to stop the tattling!

Simple Steps to a Cleaner Kitchen

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #FoamSensations #CollectiveBias
Hi friends!

Anyone who knows me knows that the words "neat" and "tidy" do not apply to me in any way, shape, or form. I would love to be that person that has everything neatly in it's place before they head off to bed, but it's just not my skill set.

However, I am trying to work on those little "hot spots". You know, the areas in your home that turn into catch-alls? Today I am tackling one of those spots in my kitchen (yes, I said one of...it's a work in progress!). It's time to dress up the sink!

Creating a Crafty Easter Basket with Disney

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #DisneyEaster #CollectiveBias

Hi friends!

I have mixed emotions about Easter baskets...

I actually don't stress about the whole "what does that have to do with Jesus?" aspect of things. We celebrate Easter because He came and gave us the ultimate gift of eternal life in Him. However, that is really big and really abstract for little ones. What we talk about is how Jesus gave us a great gift, even better than our favorite FAVORITE presents! We give because He gave. We talk about love, and generosity, but we also talk about how no gift on Earth is as big as the gift of Jesus.

Gifts are one of my love languages, so I love any chance to shower the ones I love. However, having 2 kids, we are fighting the "stuff" battle full force! I don't want to fill our home with kitschy things just for the sake of gift giving. That doesn't help anyone, especially not the one who does most of the picking up!

Disney to the rescue!

Constellation Dough

Hi friends!

One of my favorite things about homeschooling is the fact that we can follow Abbey's interests. Learning is so much easier when you are truly interested in what you are learning! Sure, we have our regular curriculum, but I love plugging in little unit studies as Abbey's interests lead.

This week it was stars. She has been asking about space, and stars, and the sun. She was especially interested in constellations. She is such a little artist, so the idea that there were pictures in the sky was fascinating for her!

I thought she needed a way to really explore constellations, and this is what we came up with!

Mix & Match Immune Power Smoothie

Hi friends!

I think I finally have it...my word for the year! (It only took me 7 weeks. Shhh...)

Bold!

I want to be bold in my faith. Bold in my business. Bold in reaching out, developing and nurturing friendships. Bold in making the changes that need to be made to improve my health and fitness. Lots of boldness this year!

I sat down recently and wrote down some of my goals for the year. Some of them scare the bejeezus out of me (in the best way!). Lose 60 pounds? Eeek! Grow my blog, my social media, my new business...EEEK! I'm going to need all the boldness I can get. I'm also going to need all the support I can get! Physical support, emotional support, and one that I tend to forget about...immune support! That's right. I have too much to get done to leave my immune system unsupported. Mama's...who's with me? Ain't nobody got time for that!

I am a firm believer in food and its ability to keep us healthy. I love making myself a big old smoothie first thing in the morning. It is a great way to get all sorts of vitamins, anti-oxidants and other goodies into your body right away.

Honey Lemon Sore Throat Pops

Hi friends!

Who has been battling the sickies this winter? We've been lucky and haven't been hit with anything too hard, but have definitely had our fair share of snotty noses. Abbey had a sore throat a couple weeks ago, which got me thinking. Cough drops aren't a great option at her age, and she would probably hate most of them anyway. I wanted something that would help her throat, and be a treat to help her mood, too! These are just perfect.

No Prep Kids Crafts

Hi Everyone!

I am so excited to be partnering with Wayfair and other Homemakers today to bring you some fantastic kids crafts. We're big craft fans around here, and there is some seriously great stuff on this list. Even better, you can do all of them with stuff you probably already have on hand! I don't know about you, but having to run to the store for that one thing an activity needs pretty much means we aren't doing that activity today. No such problem with these!

Chocolate Coconut Shortbread with Truvia®

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SweetWarmUp #CollectiveBias

Hi friends!

We are in the depths of winter where I am. We get peeks of sun here and there, but the general state of things is pretty gloomy. Days like that are just screaming for something sweet and warm. Something comforting that will warm me up, but not weigh me down. If I'm going to lose 50 pounds this year, it's not going to happen if I'm snacking on cookies all the time! However, I am a firm believer in occasional treats, and these fit that bill perfectly. Sweetened with Truvia, and paired with my favorite Bigelow tea...perfection!

Fizzy, Frozen Snow Dough

Hi friends!

When Abbey was little she hated getting her hands messy. Play dough was a rare event, and she didn't finger paint until she was 4. She has gotten much better recently, and now we get to try out all sorts of fun doughs! This one mixes two fun things: play dough and science experiments! Who doesn't love that? Bonus points: we got to build snowmen from the warmth of our dining room!

DIY Lego Table

Hi friends!

I am so excited to share this with you! This was my very favorite Christmas project this year. It was also my first time painting and repurposing furniture. Yay for trying new things! I knew I wanted a LEGO table for Abbey, but we are limited on space. This ended up being the perfect size!
