Stacked Autumn Wreath

Hi friends!

I haven't had the chance to do a decor project in ages! This one fit the bill perfectly.

I love fall decorating. Like, LOVE it. Probably more than Christmas. There's just something about these warm colors. I don't really do the creepy Halloween decorations, so my fall stuff stays out from September until the day after Thanksgiving (when the Christmas stuff comes out, duh!)

I have a wreath on my front door pretty much year round. Grapevine wreaths are my favorite because they are so easy to switch out with the seasons! However, they can be a little thin sometimes. This fixes that, and gives you more ways to personalize! Bonus!

I love how full this wreath looks, and it's hard to tell in the picture, but it really adds some great depth and dimension. It also adds so many more options for personalization! For this one I did ribbon on the bottom wreath and decorations on the top, but I could have used any combination of those, and then some!

Here is what you need:
  • 2 grapevine wreaths, one size apart
  • Ribbon of choice
  • Decorations
  • floral wire

Start by adding any flat decorations to your bottom, larger wreath. It is much easier to do that now than it is to try and weave it between the wreaths. For this one I wrapped mine in this gorgeous coppery sheer ribbon. I just tie it in a knot in the back.

Then line up your wreaths. Make sure you flip them back and forth a few times to make sure you have the alignment you want. Grapevine wreaths can be a little wonky, and are very rarely perfectly round, but you can find a good balance between the two.
Once you have them where you want them, attach them with floral wire. Just go from a vine on one wreath to a vine on another and twist a few times. Three or four attachments should be good. The more you do now, the more you have to take out later when you want to switch out your wreath!

Then flip your wreaths back over and determine where you want the top to be. From there, you can start adding in your decorations! I love to use floral picks like these because you can pretty much just shove them into the wreath. I do secure them with a piece of floral wire, but it doesn't need much. These are all from the fall decor department at Hobby Lobby. I am in loooove with those burlap leaves! Burlap, glitter, and fall colors? Done. Sold!

Now get out there and stick your wreath on your door! You have a gorgeous piece of decor in no time at all, so get it out there for all to see!

What is your favorite season/holiday to decorate for?
Do you do Halloween decor, or just stick with autumn?

Be blessed!
Heather

  2. Cute wreath! I like the double-stacked wreaths for the depth it gives. Great idea. I think my personal favorite holiday to decorate for is Christmas because it is the only one I really spend time decorating for. :) I used to decorate for every holiday before kids and homeschooling and life took over. Maybe it is time to start again!
    Thanks for the idea!
