Creating a Crafty Easter Basket with Disney

Hi friends!

I have mixed emotions about Easter baskets...

I actually don't stress about the whole "what does that have to do with Jesus?" aspect of things. We celebrate Easter because He came and gave us the ultimate gift of eternal life in Him. However, that is really big and really abstract for little ones. What we talk about is how Jesus gave us a great gift, even better than our favorite FAVORITE presents! We give because He gave. We talk about love, and generosity, but we also talk about how no gift on Earth is as big as the gift of Jesus.

Gifts are one of my love languages, so I love any chance to shower the ones I love. However, having 2 kids, we are fighting the "stuff" battle full force! I don't want to fill our home with kitschy things just for the sake of gift giving. That doesn't help anyone, especially not the one who does most of the picking up!

Disney to the rescue!

Abbey is a big Disney Junior fan, particularly Sophia the First! She is also in a full-on craft obsession, so I was thrilled to see all of these fantastic art kits in the aisle at Walmart.

Look at all of those goodies! I was pleasantly surprised at how kitsch-free the whole aisle was. Lot of options for any Disney loving kids, boys or girls. Disney Jr, FROZEN, Disney Pricesses, Marvel, even Star Wars. It's all there! (one tip...if you want FROZEN, I would run to your local store! Mine was already almost cleared out!)

So, after looking at all of the choices, I settled on some great craft kits. They are all simple crafts that she can do on her own. Can we talk about how much easier that makes dinner time? Glory, hallelujah!

The crowns can be added to the dress up basket, and the suncatcher is perfect for a little girl who loves to decorate her bedroom window! Does anyone else fight the "I'm bored" battle in the car? We try to keep anything but long roadtrips screen free, so that Fun on the Go set is perfect. It has coloring pages, stickers and some markers (with storage slots so they don't fall all over the car  when you open it up. Some one was thinking! Thank you, whoever you are.)

Aren't those mini activities cute? I love that the rubbing plates are something she will be able to use over and over again! In order to fit everything into the basket, I did a little unpacking. The crown kit went into a clear plastic gift bag (with silver glitter tape!), and the 3 in 1 activities went in individually, too. This way she can dig right in!

And of course, what would an Easter basket be without a few treats? Abbey's favorite m&ms (peanut), in glitter eggs! She is going to be thrilled, and I can't wait for her to find this on Easter morning!
